Exciting news! I’ll soon be paneled with Premera and Lifewise insurances, starting May 1! I’m so happy to now offer more affordable therapy for insurance clients. Feel free to spread the word with clients using these networks.
The story behind this change I find both interesting and overwhelming. You may not know that graduates of counseling and related master’s degrees enter the field as “associate” level providers, meaning that they may practice only under the supervision of a fully licensed therapist. Health insurance companies don’t generally contract with associate-level therapists. So this creates a challenging period for new therapists, during which they can’t take insurance if running their own businesses, and instead can only charge clients directly.
Thanks to my amazing network of colleagues, I recently learned about some rare organizations that offer sub-contracting for associates who run their own practices. I’ve recently signed up with Lemon Squeezy‘s wonderful team so that I can sub-contract as a paneled therapist with Premera/Lifewise. I’m excited! And I also have a lot to learn. As you may know, insurance can be a complex world!
And with that, I give you a couple minutes to laugh with Bill Murray and Stephen Tobolowsky at the absurdity of life…and insurance. “Watch out for that first step, it’s a doozy!” I’ll be taking that advice with me on this new adventure!
